About Matt Norman

Hi, I’m Matt, and welcome to my SEO services for small business website.

I have worked in SEO since graduating from Teesside University with a degree in Multimedia Journalism in 2012.

My first job in SEO was at a small family-run full-service digital agency in Stokesly, North Yorkshire, working with small businesses in the UK to help them develop better websites, create great content and compete within organic search against bigger and more established competitors.

In 2015 I upped sticks and moved to Sydney to join the SEO team at what was then known as Match Media. I have been employed at that same company ever since as it went through an acquisition by Publicis and two rebrands, first to Blue 449 and then to Spark Foundry.

Moving a small agency in the UK to a large agency in Australia also meant a client patch shift from smaller, local and regional businesses to larger national companies.

However, my passion for helping the little guy hasn’t dwindled, which is why in 2020 I decided to create this website so I can continue to offer my skillsets in SEO, CRO and content to small businesses around the world, no matter where they are.

Colewood Internet

Colewood Internet is where I first started to ply my trade as an SEO.

Originally hired for my content writing abilities to give clients better content to target their important keywords, I learned the art of SEO and the fundamentals behind the practice.

My larger clients included:

  • Asda Tyres
  • Thyssenkrupp Encasa
  • Attends
  • Estate Net Prestige (Knight Frank)

Match Media, Blue449 & Spark Foundry

Match/Blue/Spark is where I began truly understanding the integration between media and marketing and how the whole ecosystem works together to create great outcomes for clients.

The awesome team here started to develop different services outside of just pure SEO, to be able to cater for different client needs. Services such as Conversion Rate Optimisation and Content Strategy.

My role as Director of the Digital Experience team involves helping and guiding my team to develop and implement market-leading SEO and digital strategies for a number of clients across various industries, both in Australia and overseas.

My larger clients include:

  • AustralianSuper
  • TAL
  • Southern Cross Travel Insurance
  • Scape Student Accommodation

I am proudly employed by Spark Foundry, and any SEO contracting undertaken will first have to take into consideration Spark’s commercial interests.

This means no conflicts with directly competing agencies of Spark or directly competing clients of Spark’s.

There’s not a lot here, as I’m just starting on my SEO for small business journey, so expect this to grow over time and you can see the awesome work I get up to!

HealthBank

Website: ReachOut Australia

Engagement Breif: Provide a UX report on the website and app experiences for Healthbank. This included the user journeys from both a patient and practitioner perspective to ensure the overall user-experience of the platforms are optimal for each user’s objectives, as well as commercial objectives for Healthbank. This resulted in Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) recommendations, alongside overall usability and best-practice improvements to the end-to-end UX and web and app UI.

Spanish Classes Sydney

Website: Spanish Classes Sydney

Engagement Brieft: A one-off cost-efficient project to create a simple WordPress website, write the content and set up the Google My Business profile for a local Spanish tutor. The aim was to create a website quickly in order for Silvia to manage her own website through a simple CMS so she can continue to edit and build on her website when she needs to.

What Silivia Said: “Matthew did my website for Spanish classes which is very professional and creative. I am really greatfull for doing that beacause it helped me to grow my business. I love the fact Matthew was very patient and really listened to me.
